In today’s world, we are all partly assembled from data. Our identities are scattered across profiles, feeds, searches and signals, constantly updated and rewritten by forces we only half control. We feel like operators of our own lives, yet we are also processed by the machines we use. The streaks tearing away from his edges are the parts of ourselves we give to the network without noticing, stretched out and sent into the dark. Still, he stands. Every frame, the code dissolves him and rebuilds him, and he returns as something recognisably human. The work suggests that identity was never a fixed object. It is a pattern that persists through change, like a river or a flame, and the self is the act of holding that pattern together inside the noise. In an age of endless signal, the question it asks is who is listening, and who is still choosing to remain.
